Mark Smith is a renowned New Zealand photographer with over 40 years experience.
He is the co-author of the book Case Studies, A Story of Plant Travel. His practice has encompassed photo journalism at the NZ Herald, commercial clients such as Ecostore, Deadly Ponies, Working Style, a book project for Neil Finn and many exhibitions.
His photography workshop Old School/New School starts with a brief introduction to his practice. Inspired by The Guardian's weekly My Best Shot, Mark hones in one of his favourite photographs, unpacking it from many angles - technical, conceptual, compositionally & so on. You'll be briefed before heading to a local park to shoot on your cell phone camera and discover how to get the most out of it. On return, you will edit & print your selected photo leaving with your best shot of the day.
Please bring a cell phone.
