Have you always wanted to learn to sew? Or do you need to refresh your skills or want to learn new techniques?
In this beginner level course, students will learn the basics of sewing, through a series of guided lessons and projects, including how to thread and operate a sewing machine, correct measuring and cutting practices, various seams and seam finishes, inserting zips, creating buttonholes and more.
Once you have covered these basics, you will be ready to tackle patterns and your own projects. Work at your own pace with friendly guidance from our experienced tutor. For this course, students will need to supply the required materials (e.g. fabric, threads, pattern, etc.) themselves. This will be specified per lesson.
Please bring the following along to your first lesson:
- Fabric scissors
- Measuring tape
- Pins
If you do NOT have a sewing machine, please register below.
If you DO have your own sewing machine, please email comed@ohs.school.nz to register.
